
RV Visitor Info
If you’ve parked in our RV lot, the Museum and the Grill eagerly await you at our front entrance. If you are parked in the far back of the museum property, it is just a short stroll from the RV parking spots either from the north or south side of the building.
Safety
Safety is first and foremost. If you feel like you need help or feel like you are in danger, please call 911 first!! The Colonial Heights Police, Fire and Rescue are just minutes away.
If you want to ask a question and it is not an emergency, and it is during normal business hours, please call the museum main number 804-524-0020 and we will try and help you in any way we can.

Do’s and Don’t’s for Our RV Visitors
Parking Requirements
- To park in our facility, your RV must have on-board sanitary and bathing facilities. It must also have power generators to support the RV in every way. …ie…your RV must be self-contained.
Arrival Times
- Since the museum closes at 5:00 PM, we would appreciate your arrival prior to that time. We can then answer any questions you may have.
Maximum Stay
- The maximum stay for campers is 14 consecutive nights. After that, that visitor must leave the campsite for at least 30 nights before returning.
Animals & Pets
- If you have your 4-legged family members with you, please be a good neighbor and clean up after them.
Noise & Music
- No loud noise or music after 9:00 PM. Please be a good neighbor in this as well.
Electricity & Water
- Please be sure you are using the electrical pedestal and the water pedestal properly. If you are unsure how to use them ask and we will be happy to show you.
WI-FI
- There is great FREE WI-FI for our RV visitors.
In Case of Emergency
- The museum keeps an updated logbook of reservations and user information on site for Fire and EMS departments in case of an emergency.
Fire Pit Safety
The following fire safety conditions must be met for campers to stay in the facility...
- There shall be no open wood fires or charcoal grills.
- All propane “fire pits” will always be attended while in use.
- No fire pits will be located under an awning of an RV.
- Manufacture recommendations for use of fire pits will be followed, including appropriate separation from objects.
- All fires will be operated at least 15 feet from any structure or combustible material.
- No damaged fire pits will be used.
- No wood will be added to a propane fire pit.
- All fires shall be extinguished by 11:00 PM.
- Your own personal fire extinguishing equipment must be on site at all times. Either two fire extinguishers or a charged water hose shall be available. The museum does not provide this equipment.
